30 April to 10 May 2012Join a small group of trekkers on our Machu Picchu challenge in May 2012 and raise funds for your chosen charity.
We have been using an exclusive ‘alternative Inca Trail’ and trekking route since 2000, away from the crowded classic Inca Trail. We use a previously unknown Inca Highway, which takes us through some of the most stunning, breathtaking and unspoilt scenery in the world.
Our Peru trek starts in the heart of the Urubamba Valley as we follow in the footsteps of the Incas, passing snow-capped mountains, glacial peaks and camp overnight in the valleys of small villages, which have changed little over centuries and still use traditional farming methods. We end the trek passing through the ‘Sun Gate’ and into the lost city of Machu Picchu; Peru’s most famous Inca ruin, which had been abandoned to the forest for over 500 years until it was re-discovered in 1911 by an American historian named Hiram Bingham.
